It seems that Electronic Medical Recoreds (EMR) has been able to achieve in two months what the HMO’s could not achieve in15 years.
Sophisticated technology now enables us to entirely eliminate the patient from patient care.
It is possible, and likely, that during a patient interview, the physician will not once look at the patient.
By the time the doctor has finished the patient note, the docotor is so fatigued and worn out, that he or she becomes overwhelmed to find out that the patient has issues. Worse, these issues require EMR documentation.
Thankfully, EMR has allowed tremendous times savings. We are now able to cram in 10 patient visits in the time it used to take to see 15.
EMR is usually also able to change the mood in the work environment. It used to require TV, a journal or other form of rumor, for new HMO requirements to put doctors in a foul mood. Now people can become irrationally irriated before the second cup of coffee. By noon, half of the staff is ready to punch the computer, and the other half appears chemically sedated. None of these outstand achievements could be made possible without technology…………
